Will it BLEND?

http://www.willitblend.com/

while this MAY be of questionable scientific value, it certainly seems like a great way to witness/discuss some interesting phenomena. But also it is just AMAZINGLY cool, that this blender company has the courage to follow through with this sort of a campaign. To me this shows an authentic passion for the product that (were I looking for a blender) would really pull a lot of weight.

The "coke float" is astonishing. I think the POWER of this tool, and the dangerous curiosity are why I posted this on my Science blog

Science needs more Magic

First watch the video...

(if it doesn't load skip to the next link, it has the video embeded in the page.)

Then read the explanation

then tell me if this is a hoax...

Thoughts: When I say Science needs more Magic, I am not referring to Science: the process of using the scientific method I am really referring to Science: the act of looking under the hood, and questioning everything. To that end, a well timed hoax, is a very valuable tool in the advancement of science (see piltdown man)
A pool filled with non-newtonian fluid

uhhh, why don't we have shows like this in the U.S.

Waves in a Large Free Sphere of Water

just pretty... and great use of descriptive language. I really enjoy hearing such precise use of language to describe something that is really COOL!

Carl Sagan - speaks about 4 billion years of evolution

this may be one of my first spiritual experiences. This man is who I want to be when I grow up.

the only CONSTANT is CHANGE

WHAT PEOPLE SAID ABOUT BOOKS IN 1498 This is a little peek into the 42 years right after Gutenberg printed his first bible. Millions of books, tens-of-thousands of titles. We always think our times are the best/worst, most rapidly changing/deteriorating... So while it is true that the only constant is change. It is equally true that the more things change, the more they stay the same.

3D Deutz engine animation

at first it seems a little long, and kinda slow, but once you realize they are going to build EVERY bit of a very REAL engine, it just carries you along... The assembly gives serious context, and then at the end the animations really spell out what is going on inside an internal combustin engine. This is gorgeeeeoouus..
